Big Data Instructor

The AEC program in Big Data provides students with the tools and skills to collect, manage, analyze and interpret data. The program focuses on technologies and programming languages such as: Scala, Java, Kafka, Avro, Linux, Tableau, as well as Apache Hadoop Ecosystem. Instructors are expected to deliver quality lessons, as well as lab work that follow academic standards.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
• Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the college
• Assist students and provide appropriate feedback on their work
• Instruct and guide students during lab hours
• Deliver program in stipulated time as per ministry regulations
• Update all necessary records timely and accurately as required by college regulations
• Assign and grade homework, tests, and assignments
• Communicate with college staff to understand the program expectations.

Qualifications and Skills

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems/Business Management or equivalent related field
• Minimum 3+ years hands-on experience as a BI Developer
• One or more years of experience in Teaching(in the relevant field) preferred
• In-depth understanding of concepts of business intelligence and data warehouse
• Strong background in data warehouse design
Soft Skills:
• Must possess excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to explain new ideas and unfamiliar concepts clearly and concisely so that students can understand
• Ability to handle students of different backgrounds effectively
• Should be able to find ways to involve students in their lessons. If needed, may have to work with different learning styles to get the most out of each student.

Technical Skills:
Candidate can apply if their skills fall into any one of the below groups
Group 1 - SQL:
• Proficiency in SQL Server
• Strong knowledge in SQL and its variation among popular databases
• Familiar with tools that can aid with profiling server resource usage and optimizing
• Microsoft certified SQL developer is preferred
Group 2 - SSIS:
• Experience working with SQL and good understanding of ETL processes
• Must have commanding experience in SQL Server Integration Services and creating SSIS packages
• Proven experience in implementing a data warehouse with SSIS
Group 3 - SSRS:
• Experience working with SQL and good understanding of ETL processes
• Must have commanding experience in SQL Server Reporting Service and creating table reports
• Proven experience in implementing a data models and reports with SSRS
Group 4 - SSAS:
• Experience working with SQL and good understanding of ETL processes
• Must have commanding experience in SQL Server Analysis Services
